Located at the lakefront and 52nd St. Open dawn-dusk. Featuring the Veteran's Memorial Fountain and Lone Soldier Memorial. Special events, including the summer Peanut Butter & Jam concert series, are held here.
Dedicated in 2005, the Lone Soldier Memorial features a seven-foot tall lone soldier created in cast bonze as its centerpiece. The work serves to commemorate all of the wars fought by the United States since 1776 as well as the total casualties of each war. The monument complements the Veterans Memorial Fountain in the City of Kenosha’s lakefront park. The fountain features mementos from historic battlegrounds, including an eight-ton boulder from Okinawa and sand from Omaha and Utah beaches in Normandy, and a stainless steel globe with continents made of cast bronze at its center.
The Lone Soldier Memorial is a stop on the 2013 Tour of Honor. Tour of Honor is a self-directed motorcycle ride between the months of April and October. Proceeds from the ride benefit the Wounded Warriors Project.
This free concert series is a summer tradition, and 2013 marks its 12th anniversary! So push away from your desk and come to the lakefront for a foot-tapping, music-filled lunch. Sandwiches and soft drinks will be available to purchase, but feel free to bring your picnic lunch or dinner if you prefer. This event is on Kenosha's electric streetcar line! In the event of rain, the concert will be canceled.
