The City of Kenosha
Back to "Our Community"
Kenosha is a great city, and I invite you to experience for yourself what everyone is talking about when they say that Kenosha is truly a gem on Lake Michigan. Here on the shores of Lake Michigan, you will find miles of beaches, picturesque public gardens and fountains, two historic lighthouses, a promenade perfect for walking, biking or skating, the Kenosha History Center, outdoor concerts, historical reenactments, and many other family-oriented festivals. During your visit, check out Kenosha’s museums, including the Dinosaur Discovery Museum and the Kenosha Public Museum. The Dinosaur Discovery Museum in the historic Civic Center District features dramatic life-size dinosaur replica casts, interactive exhibits, and a working on-site paleontology lab. Of course, you must also visit the Kenosha Public Museum and see the mammoths excavated in Kenosha County, as well as wonderful temporary exhibits. Kenosha’s latest addition to its museum campus is the Civil War Museum opening in June 2008. Through state of the art technology, dioramas and interactive exhibits, visitors travel back in history to the social, political and economic influences that contributed to the Civil War. Your travel between the museums is easy when you hop aboard one of five vintage electric streetcars. Finally, in between visits to these amazing attractions, take in art fairs, farmers markets, bicycle racing, charter fishing, golf, greyhound racing, and fine dining. There is no shortage of wonderful things to see and do in Kenosha, and we look forward to seeing you.
