Dear Friend,
Within steps of Kenosha's Lake Michigan shore, you'll find sandy beaches, four museums, scenic walkways, and charming cafés and shops. And that's not all! Here’s a sample of what else our picturesque lakefront has in store for you:
CLIMB!
Climb 72 steps to the top of the 1866 Southport Lighthouse!
The view from the top - of the boat-filled harbor and surrounding area - is incredible! The lighthouse is open for tours on summer weekends. Lighthouse mementos are sold in the Kenosha History Center gift shop next door.
SHOP!
Kenosha HarborMarket
is the place to be on Saturdays. On any given week, you'll find everything from herbs, honey, Wisconsin raised lamb, artisan breads and eggs to dog biscuits, knife sharpening, massage services, jewelry, soaps and soy candles. Not to mention live music, chef demonstrations, locally grown organic produce and much more.
RIDE!
Step back in time aboard authentic, refurbished 1951 PCC Electric
Streetcars. See Lake Michigan, downtown, two historic districts, and more along the two-mile scenic route. Each streetcar has a name and color that represents the legacy of streetcar transportation in different cities, including Toronto, Chicago, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Kenosha. The fare is only a quarter!
FISH!
The Kenosha Charter Boat Association highly recommends
August as a hot month to fish. Kings, steelhead, brown trout, coho, and big lake trout can be found. Fish caught during this time period often average between 12 and 22 pounds. All equipment is provided and your captain cleans your fish for you. Bring your fresh catch to Boat House Pub & Eatery, and it will be prepared for you.
