November 2009
Greetings from the Kenosha Area!
The holiday shopping season is upon us. Here is an abbreviated guide of where to go in the Kenosha Area to take care of everyone on your gift list. Whether you come shopping for the day or make it an overnight getaway, enjoy!
MIDNIGHT MADNESS!
Don’t forget, after your Thanksgiving feast, put on your pajamas and head to Prime Outlets – Pleasant Prairie for Midnight Madness. You could win a big shopping spree! Here are friendly tips: shoppers have arrived well before midnight in past years to secure a place in line; dress warm, as the line is outside; and vendors will be selling refreshments. Click here for details (keyword: pajamas). Here are overnight shopping packages.
LIGHTEN UP! DOWNTOWN
Visit Kenosha's Downtown and Harborside area on Friday, Nov. 27 as the area LIGHTS UP for the holidays. Specialty stores will stay open late for family-friendly shopping, live music and special events. Among the places to visit is Heim’s Downtown Toy Store. You’ll find the award-winning word game Bananagrams here, as well as the Classic Tin Kaleidoscope. Click here for details (keyword: lighten).
MUSEUM GIFT SHOPS
Visit the Kenosha Public Museum's gift shop for a selection of jewelry, children's games, cultural items from around the world and more. At the Civil War Museum, you’ll find unique collectibles, books, music, DVDs, and more. The Dinosaur Discovery Museum's gift shop includes dino-themed puzzles, games and toys. Visit the Kenosha History Center for lighthouse mementos, AMC and Nash collectibles, historic books, postcards, and more. Click here for details.
ART GALLERIES
The Anderson Art Center’s gift shop showcases original artwork, photography, pottery, cards, jewelry, furniture, scarves, and many other handmade items by local and Midwest artists. More one-of-a-kind gifts can be found at Lemon Street Gallery, KAAleidoscope Art Gallery, Pollard Gallery, Seebeck Gallery, and Southport Art Gallery. Visit the arts and shopping pages for details.
