| Dear Friend,
The countless
great times continue in the Kenosha Area this fall. Here is a sampling
of what you will find here during just one great weekend.
Have
you heard some rather large Dinos have moved in? The
Dinosaur Discovery Museum "Dino-Might" Grand Opening takes place
Oct 14 and 15 from noon to 5 p.m. with free family activities at
the NEW Dinosaur
Discovery Museum and the Kenosha Public Museum. Join Dr. Thomas
Carr, Curator of the Dinosaur Discovery Museum, to learn about the
Carthage Institute of Paleontology's first field school and what
was discovered this summer. And don’t miss the hit movie Jurassic
Park, shown on an outdoor big screen on Saturday evening. Click
here for details (keyword: Dino-Might).
How
hot do you like your chili? You be the judge at
the Kenosha History Center Chili Cook Off from 6 to 10 p.m. on Oct
14 at the Kenosha History Center. Contestants include: Coffee Pot
Diner, tg's, Boat House, Twisted Cuisine, Mo's Cafe, Wine Knot,
Bluefish, Somers Fire Dept., and Kenosha Fire Dept. Admission includes
chili tasting and judging from 6:00 until it's gone and great music
by "The Alex Wilson Band" from Milwaukee. There will be
a good selection of micro brews and wine available at cash bars.
Limited tickets are available at the door for only $10. Click
here for details (keyword: Chili).
Take it back a few decades at Retro
at the Rhode. The bands begin at 5 p.m. on Oct 14
at Rhode Center for the Arts. Enjoy the Paul Douglas Trio (60's
hits), Radioactive Squirrels (Doors Tribute), and Cosmic Railroad
(Grateful Dead Tribute). There will be vendors selling clothing,
jewelry, and artwork from that era, along with a cash bar and food
vendors. This is a fundraiser for Lakeside Players and a chance
for you to become acquainted with Kenosha’s premier venue
for live musical performance. Tickets are $10 advance, $15 at the
door. Click
here for details (keyword: Retro).
Watch
the Kenosha Area shine on TV! The Kenosha Area episode
of Discover
Wisconsin entitled "The Greater Kenosha Area: One Great Lake,
Countless Great Times", which premiered in March, will air again
on Oct 14 and 15. Check your local listings for time and channel.
Also, you can purchase DVD copies of the episode at Andrea's, Dinosaur
Discovery Museum, Kenosha History Center, Kenosha Public Museum,
