Kenosha Area Convention & Visitors Bureau to Staff Visitor Information Center on I-94

Kenosha, WI (October 26, 2009) - “The Kenosha Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (KACVB) will now have a presence on the busy I-94 corridor. We are scheduled to begin serving customers at the Visitor Information Center, located at I-94 & Hwy. 165, on Tuesday, November 3rd,” states Dennis A. DuChene II, President of the KACVB. “We look forward to welcoming travelers to Wisconsin, and assisting them with their travel plans.”

The plan is to operate the Visitor Information Center: November – March, Tuesday –Saturday, 8am-4pm. April – October, 7 days a week, 8am-4pm.  The KACVB will also continue operating its Visitor Information Center in Downtown Kenosha, at 812 – 56th Street.

“The Kenosha Area Convention & Visitors Bureau does an excellent job of taking care of travelers on the road and they have our full support behind them,” Tourism Secretary Kelli A. Trumble said. “Travelers are accustomed to using the 1-94 Rest Area to obtain travel information so the best scenario is to have the visitor bureau make use of this location.”

Wisconsin’s $13 billion tourism industry is one of the top three industries in the state and remains a core strength of the state’s economy. In Kenosha County alone, tourists spent a record $225.2 million in 2008, ranking 14th highest in total tourism expenditures among 72 Wisconsin counties.

The KACVB is a non-profit corporation with the purpose of enhancing and growing tourism in the greater Kenosha area, and thereby contributing positively to the community’s economy.
