Kenosha Area Convention & Visitors Bureau Participating in Money Smart Week Wisconsin

Kenosha, WI (October 6, 2009) - October 10-17, United Way of Kenosha County is partnering with local organizations and businesses to bring the Money Smart Week Wisconsin program to local residents. The Kenosha Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (KACVB) is one of the participants, with staff members presenting the Family Fun on a Budget workshop.

The Money Smart Week Wisconsin program, started in 2006, is designed to help people better manage their finances and provide awareness of financial education programs available in their community on topics such as budgeting and using credit wisely. This is the first year it will be implemented in Kenosha County.

Workshops, on a variety of topics, will take place at various locations. Most of the workshops are offered at no charge and with no pre-registration required. Everyone is welcome to attend any or all of the sessions.

The KACVB’s free workshop, Family Fun on a Budget, will give residents ideas on how to “Be a Tourist in Your Own Town!” Attendees will discover (or re-discover) all the great attractions and recreational opportunities, at little or no cost to the family’s budget, to enjoy right here in their own “back yard.” Ideas involving free train tours in a candyland, electric streetcars, meat-eating dinosaurs, locally famous mammoths, historic mansions, scenic hiking and biking trails and more will be shared. The workshop will be offered Tuesday, October 13th from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Kenosha County Center, Hwy. 50 & Hwy. 45, and Friday, October 16th from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Gateway Technical College BioCatt Bldg, Rm. 223, 3520- 30th Ave.
