Kenosha Area Convention & Visitors Bureau Collecting Mittens

Kenosha, WI  (December 20, 2011) – The Kenosha Area Convention & Visitors Bureau’s two Travel Information Centers are serving as drop off sites for The Great Lakes Mitten Campaign. New or gently used mittens are being accepted during business hours until January 15. All mittens collected will be donated to local charities.

In light of all the buzz surrounding the image of a Wisconsin-shaped mitten on TravelWisconsin.com and its social media sites, TRAVEL WISCONSIN™ (the Wisconsin Department of Tourism) and Pure Michigan have joined forces to collect mittens for charity.

To help remind visitors at the KACVB’s I-94 Visitor Information Center to donate, students from Mrs. Sarah Pederson’s fifth grade class at Southport Elementary School in Kenosha colored paper mittens that are now on display throughout the center.

The I-94 Visitor Information Center is located at I-94 and Hwy. 165 near Pleasant Prairie Premium Outlets. It is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will be open December 24 and 31 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Downtown Kenosha Visitor Information Center is located at 812 - 56th Street. It is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It will be closed December 23, 26, 30, and January 2.
