Kenosha Area Shopping Excursion In The Bag
Kenosha, WI (November 9, 2011) – Attention all hunters’ widows, holiday shoppers, and bargain hunters: shopping season is in full swing in this corner of Wisconsin! Actually, the Kenosha Area is a shopping destination all-year long! An outlet mall offering a bit of midnight madness, new shops and specialty boutiques, an indoor market beginning its winter season, not to mention Kenosha’s one-of-a-kind specialty shops, call out to hard-core, and even the casual, shoppers.
MIDNIGHT MADNESS
It’s become an annual tradition on Thanksgiving to cap off the family feast with an excursion on Interstate 94 for the After-Thanksgiving Weekend Sale featuring Midnight Madness at Pleasant Prairie Premium Outlets. This is touted as the biggest shopping event of the year, when thousands of bargain shoppers find additional savings on top of already low every day prices when the stores open at midnight (and some even earlier!) on Thanksgiving evening, the kick off of Black Friday and the official start of the holiday shopping season. To save even more, shoppers can sign up for the VIP Shopper Club online – at no cost – to receive access to exclusive online coupons, a voucher for a free coupon book, insider news, shopping tips and more. The mall features 90 designer and name brand outlet stores, offering savings of 25 to 65 percent every day, including Adidas, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Calvin Klein, Coach, Gap Outlet, Hugo Boss, J.Crew, Juicy Couture, Nike, Polo Ralph Lauren, Sony and many more. New stores recently opened include: HanesBrands, Rockport, Michael Kors, and Arc'Teryx Salomon. Located at the corner of I-94 & Hwy. 165, the mall features extended hours the entire weekend and through the holidays. It’s open Christmas Eve from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Overnight shopping packages are available from nearby hotels including Country Inn & Suites and Radisson Hotel & Conference Center. WINTER HARBORMARKET OPEN FOR BUSINESS
As sure as the leaves fall in autumn, Kenosha HarborMarket, the popular European-style mixed market near Kenosha’s Lake Michigan shore, moves indoors for Winter HarborMarket. The setting could not be more beautiful, inside the lobby of the historicRhode Center for the Arts (514-56th Street) in Downtown Kenosha, just blocks from the market’s summer location. It will be inside Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., through May 19 (closed Dec. 24, 31). The offerings are varied, including organic vegetables, meats, ethnic products, cheeses, eggs, flowers, delicious prepared foods and beverages, artisan bakery goods, handcrafted soaps, candles, art and craft. Multiple Kenosha shop owners began as vendors at HarborMarket, including Sandy’s Popper, a Downtown Kenosha shop, which, to this day, brings its fresh gourmet popcorn to HarborMarket. Admission is free. (www.kenoshaharbormarket.com)
ANDREA’S: LOOKING GOOD AT 100
For Kenosha souvenirs, cigars, classic gifts, jewelry, a soda fountain treat, and more, look no further than Andrea’s (2401-60th Street). The Kenosha landmark has been celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. This summer, a patio was added outside the south door of Andrea’s for customers ordering inside at Jack’s Café. The entire outdoor landscape was freshened up, with a new awning placed over the patio, new signage, and a new paint job for the outside of the building. New centennial merchandise is available, including an anniversary mug, in the Hometown Corner. Here, too, the works of local artists and writers are featured, and numerous Electric Streetcar, and other Kenosha, souvenirs can be found. And to think the store got its start on a piano crate in 1911, where Giacomo “Jack” Andrea sold tobacco, candies, and newspapers after he arrived from Italy! (www.andreasgifts.com) Specialty stores and galleries offering one-of-a-kind gifts and treasures can be found in Kenosha, with many located in Downtown Kenosha. Here, stores will be open late on November 25 for Lightin’ Up with live music, caroling, and Santa (www.kenoshacvb.com/events/lightin). More information about Kenosha’s specialty store offerings can be found here: www.kenoshacvb.com/shopping/specialty-stores.
