Kenosha Attempts One For Guinness World Records With Duck Duck Goose

Kenosha, WI (August 29, 2011) - On Saturday, September 3, at least 1,635 participants are expected to line the streets of Downtown Kenosha as they play “Duck Duck Goose”. Remember playing “Duck Duck Goose” on the school playground? It’s not just for kids! Kids and adults alike will be here - determined to be part of a record-breaking event. Kenosha is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the largest game of "Duck Duck Goose".  It’s quirky; it’s fun; it’s a must-see event!
 
The start time is 3:30 p.m., with the game taking place from 59th St. and 6th Ave. to 50th St. and 7th Ave. in Downtown Kenosha. Wanting to promote community involvement and pride, organizers first had a goal of topping 1,415 participants, a record set in Ontario, Canada in 2005. But then on August 23, a new record was set at a university in Oklahoma. So now Kenosha’s game must exceed 1,634 people.
 
Ages 3 and over are invited to participate. Food, music, and other entertainment are planned. It’s free to participate (or watch!). Pre-registration is taking place at Downtown shops, but is not required. Comfortable running shoes are recommended! Participants will be seated on the street, so bring a blanket or something else comfortable to sit on.
 
Downtown Kenosha is located approximately seven miles east of I-94, on the Lake Michigan shore. Participants and spectators may arrive Downtown early to enjoy the 8th Annual Kenosha Classic Cruise-In (8 a.m. – 3 p.m.), shop, ride the Electric Streetcar, and enjoy lunch or ice cream near Lake Michigan.
